What a trip! A trip no one asked to go on. It’s rough for all sorts of reasons, some obvious, some hard to grasp for now. Yet just as real are the silver linings. Tiny nuggets we might notice during these long days, and lessons that will unfold in the future.

Since this blog’s inception, it’s been devoted to sharing how good I felt when I drank less. And how I figured out that puzzling piece of my life – why I repeatedly did something that I knew would make me feel worse a few hours later, in the dark of night, the next morning. And how I learned very quickly that of the 80% of Americans that drink, a staggering percentage of those are struggling with the same issue. Roughly 10% of that 80% are physically addicted. Many of the rest of us have an ongoing loop in our heads that asks why we want to drink, while we wish we weren’t. That’s psychological dependence.

So we crack jokes and share memes that serve to block the discomfort. (Thank God liquor stores are deemed essential, right?) Instead of allowing ourselves to ask a simple question: Could life be better with less alcohol? That’s it. Just a question.

I’m not here to preach. This strange phase in our lives will end, but our days will feel different, at least for a time. Thing is, do you want to feel different? Better? Are you curious about what your life, fueled by more you and less alcohol, can be? That’s all I ask. It’s an experiment. At no point do you need to say forever. Just pause, move a few feet to one side, and get a new view. That’s all it takes to open things up.

I’m so excited to be one of the certified coaches for the next 30-day Live Alcohol Experiment, beginning May 1st. It’ll be the best $47 you’ll ever spend (the cost of a few bottles of wine). This Experiment is what changed my thinking, and my life, last April. One year ago. I am forever grateful. Check it out!

When life ebbs back to the normal, I’ll be amping up my local, small-group workshops. There’s nothing quite like that experience. We laugh and learn and cut through a lot of rubbish. Plus, I miss being with real bodies! And I’m always available 1:1 online to share with you everything I’ve learned. WHAT IF YOUR LIFE COULD BE BETTER WITH LESS ALCOHOL?
